As we have already discussed in the introduction, an equilateral triangle is a triangle that has all its sides equal in length. Also, the three angles of the equilateral triangle are congruent and equal to 60 degrees. The sum of all three angles of an equilateral triangle is equal to 180 degrees.
An equilateral triangle's perimeter is the sum of its three sides. P = 3a is the basic formula for calculating the perimeter of an equilateral triangle, where 'a' denotes one of the triangle's sides. The sum becomes a + a + a = 3a since all three sides of an equilateral triangle are equal.
SSS or Side-Side-Side Similarity
If all the three sides of a triangle are in proportion to the three sides of another triangle, then the two triangles are similar. Thus, if AB/XY = BC/YZ = AC/XZ then ΔABC ~ΔXYZ. Also, read: Isosceles Triangle Equilateral.
An equilateral triangle is a triangle in which all three sides have the same length, and all three angles are equal. Because of these properties, the equilateral triangle is a regular polygon, occasionally known as the regular triangle.
All three sides are equal. All three angles are congruent and are equal to 60 degrees. It is a regular polygon with three sides. The perpendicular drawn from vertex of the equilateral triangle to the opposite side bisects it into equal halves.
Theorem1: Each angle of an equilateral triangle is the same and measures 60 degrees each. Therefore the angles of the equilateral triangle are 60 degrees each. Theorem 2: A triangle is said to be equilateral if and only if it is equiangular. Therefore, an equilateral triangle is an equiangular triangle.
We also know that in a triangle, the interior angle and its corresponding exterior angle form a linear pair, i.e., Exterior angle = 180° - Interior angle. Hence, the sum of exterior angles of an equilateral triangle is equal to 360 degrees.
SSS (Side-Side-Side)
If all the three sides of one triangle are equivalent to the corresponding three sides of the second triangle, then the two triangles are said to be congruent by SSS rule. In the above-given figure, AB= PQ, BC = QR and AC=PR, hence Δ ABC ≅ Δ PQR.
The Law of sines gives a relationship between the sides and angles of a triangle. The law of sines in Trigonometry can be given as, a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC, where, a, b, c are the lengths of the sides of the triangle and A, B, and C are their respective opposite angles of the triangle.
CPCT refers to Corresponding parts of Congruent Triangle, i.e. if 2 triangles are congruent, they are exactly the mirror images of each other and the corresponding parts of both the triangles including length of sides as well as angles can be inferred to be equal.
