From 00:00 to 11:59 (of a 24-hour clock), the time is represented as A.M. Between 12:00 and 23:59 (of a 24-hour clock), the time is represented as P.M. A.M. means Ante Meridiem and P.M. means Post Meridiem.
Times in the first hour of the day are sometimes given as, for example, 00:47 am, with 00:00 am corresponding to midnight, but with a time twelve hours later given as 12:47 pm.
There is no widely accepted convention for how midday and midnight should be represented: in English-speaking countries, "12 p.m." indicates 12 o'clock noon, while "12 a.m." means 12 o'clock midnight. 12:00 a.m. 12:01 a.m. 1:00 a.m.
To avoid any confusion (and to make sure you arrive on time), it might be best to say 12 noon or 12 midnight instead. Alternatively, you could use the 24-hour clock system, where 12:00 is noon and 00:00 (or 24:00) is midnight.
Starting from the first hour of the day (0:00 / midnight to 0:59), add 12 hours and AM to the time: 0:30 = 12:30 AM.
Midnight is the zero point in time when we start to build up 24 one-hour periods of time to make up a new day. So midnight is the point 0am. After a period of one hour we reach the point in time called 1am, and after 12 periods of one hour we reach the point called noon.
As the dividing point between one day and another, midnight defies easy classification as either part of the preceding day or of the following day. Though there is no global unanimity on the issue, most often midnight is considered the start of a new day and is associated with the hour 00:00.
The first 12-hour period is designated as am. It runs from midnight to noon. The second period, marked pm, covers the 12 hours from noon to midnight.
The hour after midnight is a.m., which means you can write that time as 12:00 a.m. If you're using a 24-hour clock, digital clock, or military time, 12:00 is noon or midday. Military time also refers to noon as 12:00 p.m. You don't need to add p.m. to 12:00 because 12:00 military time will always be noon.
therefore 00.00 = midnight, or twelve o'clock at night.
